Dr. Daniel Johnson is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago.

His specialty is treating children with infectious and often life-threatening diseases. “We are watching the evolution of a crisis in health care,” says Dr. Johnson. “I have seen children from across the state with very serious illnesses who come to our hospital only after their families have spent precious time just trying to find a doctor who can see them. In many parts of Illinois, no specialists are available or wait times for an appointment stretch into several months. If we keep going on like this, it will affect the quality of health care for every child in the state, not just those who are covered by All Kids.”
